Indian Ocean electrifies at the launch of Cultural Wisdom Lab under Chitkara School of Liberal Arts

It has been rightly said “Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.” Keeping up with the same, the leader of the non-film Indian-language rock-based music – Indian Ocean performed on the Chitkara University campus on the evening of 10th November 2022.

Launching the Cultural Wisdom Lab under the Chitkara School of Liberal Arts, Chitkara University, the band gave an enduring performance on ‘Bhagdad Bheed Mei Aadmi Sayana Re’ while also paying musical tributes to Vande Matram, legendary singer KK, and entertaining the crowd through performances on songs from the movie ‘Chakki’, ‘Maa Rewa’ and many more.

The mesmerizing appeal of the Indian Ocean band proved to be a crowd-puller with thousands of students pouring in to listen to one of India’s most renowned musical bands. Notably, the Indian Ocean’s uniqueness blends Indian folk and semi-classical roots with rock and jazz inflections. With its wide fan base that loves the fusion of both Indian and western music, the Indian Ocean’s mix of traditional and contemporary performances marked up an evening that made up for an extraordinary concert.

Having mentioned that, the newly inaugurated Cultural Wisdom Lab under Chitkara School of Liberal Arts, headed by Dr. Neeti Sethi, will help the student community wisely traverse the cultural peaks, map tricky cultural contours of our day-to-day places and spaces and chart a path towards building an idealistic world.

Furthermore, the aim of the Cultural Wisdom Lab at Chitkara School of Liberal Arts is to whet the curiosity of the students, regardless of their level, gender, and geographies, and widen their horizons. Also, to inculcate a sense of self-discovery, search in the surroundings which extend from the community to the society, and from the society to the nation & the world.

The Cultural Wisdom Lab at Chitkara School of Liberal Arts will be home to explorations and creations of the Intrepid Explorers, the core program we aspire would mingle and merge intercultural art forms and transcend artificial boundaries and rekindle hope for humanity with positivity and possibility.
