Chitkara School of Health Sciences has initiated a 4-Year full-time Bachelor of Optometry. The training methodology provides integrated inputs which help to develop a high degree of conceptual skills, analytical skills and quality technical knowledge base among aspirants and prepares them for a bright future in the eye-care Industry.
Chitkara School of Health Sciences (CSHS) has introduced a 4-Year full-time program in Optometry, which deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system.
The program is envisaged to develop a multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at paramedical level. The program will enable a student to become a competent person in providing service as an Optometrist at Tertiary eye care centre, specialty eye clinic such as low vision clinic, orthoptic clinic, contact lens clinic, Optical outlets, can also provide Ophthalmic Assistant to the community as an optometrist, and can also provide services at Multinational Vision Care Companies. Our training methodology will provide students with integrated inputs that will help develop their conceptual & analytical skills, and a strong technical knowledge base, in order to prepare them for a bright future in the eye care sector of the Healthcare Industry. Our 4-Year Optometry program is designed to provide you with all the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to become a qualified Optometrist. Optometrists do much more than supply spectacles and contact lenses. An optometry examination includes screening for signs of disease that may need medical attention. Optometrists may also offer specialist advice and treatment to patients having problems with low vision, binocular vision, and those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
Pre-Internship Clinical Training: ASCO India.
Get a solid base with 3 years of intensive learning on campus and further build on this solid foundation through 1 year of internship. Throughout the course, you’ll attend small-group sessions to help you develop transferable skills to support your learning. You'll become familiar with the profession of optometry in India and abroad, enabling you to become a well-developed practitioner of the future.
Become an Optometrist with updated skills and knowledge about latest industry trends and technology. Gain extensive industry exposure through various sessions with experts, project work and this cutting edge industry-endorsed program. Learn in purpose-built facilities that will include bespoke optometric examination rooms, numerous dedicated specialist clinic rooms and dedicated laboratories for non-clinical practical sessions.
Design and development in Optometry industry requires a perfect blend of theory, practice and research and is best learnt by doing. You’ll begin to apply your knowledge from your very first year and will spend a lot of time practicing your acquired skills. The final year of the degree will be spent undergoing a paid internship at Lenskart retail stores and other leading optometry organisations.
Optometrists usually work in eye hospitals, clinics and optical outlets or with multinational vision care companies. You may also specialize in particular types of vision disorders (squints, colour blindness etc) and specialty practices (Binocular Vision, Contact Lens, Low Vision). After gaining experience in a private establishment or with a lens manufacturer, you can open your own practice. You will be surprised to know that optometry features among the top 10 income-earning professions in the US. Flexibility in practice and myriad choices in geographic location make it an excellent career choice.
