IN THE 3RD & 4TH YEAR AT THE ODETTE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR, A STUDENT CAN PURSUE SPECIALIZATION FROM A LIST OF AVAILABLE OPTIONS BELOW. ALL INCOMING CHITKARA STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT A STUDENT ADVISOR AT THE ODETTE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS.

ACCOUNTING | HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT | FINANCE | SUPPLY CHAIN AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS MARKETING | STRATEGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP | INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

  • The specializations require students to take 6-8 elective business courses. Since Chitkara students will do 12 specified (required) business courses, 2 non-business courses and 6 business/non- business courses, some specializations will fit 20 courses and some specializations will require more than 20 courses.
  • The following specializations will fit within the room for 20 courses: Finance, International Business, Supply Chain and Business Analytics, Strategy and Entrepreneurship.
  • The following specializations may require 2 additional courses: Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing.
  • Summer courses are available. However, a limited number of courses are offered in summer.
  • Students need to take a variety of mandatory courses after coming to Odette.
  • A thesis option is available to interested students.

The students who will continue at Chitkara University in the 3rd year of B. Com will study Security Law/Soft Skills/Financial and Forex Markets/Financial Reporting and Analysis including an opportunity for summer internship to successfully graduate with 3 year B. Com (Honours) degree from Chitkara University.

Com (Honours) to the curriculum of the Bachelor of Commerce(Honours Business Administration) degree, UWindsor, Canada so that the students can seamlessly transfer with Credit for Recognition of Prior Learning and receive the same learning outcomes and a globally recognized degree i.e. Bachelors of Commerce(Honours Business Administration) from Windsor University, Canada.
  • Study the underlying issues that impact global finances and be able to make sound business decisions.
  • Integrate personal responsibility, global mindset, different contextual frameworks and professional accounting standards in collective decision-making.
  • Apart from saving hugely on international tuition fee when you study 2 years at Chitkara University, a high school student will also learn an applied Canadian pedagogy when they start closer to home before opting to transfer after two years to UWindsor in Canada. Besides tuition fees, a student will also save on boarding and lodging costs when they stay in their home country for the first two years.
  • Conditional letter of offer from UWindsor is issued to all students at the start of the course that lays down the conditions to transfer to University of Windsor in Canada after successfully completing two years of their study at Chitkara University.
  • Students would be coached for the English language proficiency requirement (IELTS) during the first two years of your studies at Chitkara University.
  • Evaluate, categorize and explain in-depth relevant relationships of technical knowledge in various business and Economics functions to managing business conducted in an ambiguous, complex and unpredictable environment.
  • Explain economic concepts, problems and solutions. Integrate knowledge of economics with statistics in order to estimate economic models.
  • Assess the quality of evidence available various business contexts and propose ways to reduce the detrimental effects of, or harness legitimate benefits from ambiguity, complexity and unpredictability in various business contexts.

How to Apply

You can visit our website or download application form or visit us at our admission office in Chandigarh or speak to our representative. Once you meet the eligibility conditions below, you can deposit the application form with required documents and application fee to receive your letter of admission. The eligibility conditions are :

  • Successful completion of Class XII in any stream with a minimum of 60% aggregate overall (CBSE, ISC, IB Diploma, State Boards, Cambridge) with 60% in Mathematics. Students who did not take Mathematics in Class XII will have to study and clear 2 Upgrade Maths courses during the first 2 Years which is a mandatory requirement for transferring to UWindsor in Canada in the third year. 
  • A minimum of 65% in English in Class XII
  • Or
  • Achievement of a minimum score of 6.5 bands on the IELTS English proficiency test with no band less than 6 
  • Or
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – score of at least 570 (or 230 if computer-based score), plus a minimum TWE (essay) score of 4.0, or IBT score of 88 with no section below 20.  
  • Mandatory personal Interview with our Academic Team.

Transfer to Canada

You have an option to apply for transfer to University of Windsor in Canada after studying and demonstrating academic success (with a min requisite of 6 CGPA on a scale of 10) and other statutory requirements while studying two years of Bachelors in Commerce at Chitkara University. You will be eligible to transfer into the third year of Honours Business Administration Bachelor of Commerce degree at the UWindsor with all transfer credits of prior learning from the first two years of your study at Chitkara University where you will spend another two years of study to get a 4 year Honours Business Administration Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Windsor in Ontario. You will also be eligible to apply and receive a three year of work permit after successful graduation.

However, apart from demonstrating academic success in the first two years at Chitkara University, you have to secure a study permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or IRCC, the only Canadian government visa granting authority, and other conditions include but not limited to

  • Valid IELTS Score of 6.5 cumulative with no band less than 6.0
  • No prior refusal of any visa for Canada on your passport
  • Have demonstrated academic success while studying first two years of your bachelors degree education at Chitkara University and secured minimum GPA.
