Chitkara University, through its National Service Scheme, marked Global Forgiveness Day by organising an insightful session that encouraged students and faculty to explore the significance of forgiveness as a path to emotional freedom and inner peace. The session was led by Varun Upadhyay, Regional Director of The Art of Living Institution Programs, who guided participants through an afternoon of reflection, discussion and practical exercises.

The session went beyond a conventional lecture, offering participants a lived experience of understanding and practicing forgiveness. Varun Upadhyay emphasised that forgiveness is not about forgetting wrongs or diminishing pain but about consciously letting go of resentment to reclaim mental and emotional balance. He highlighted that true forgiveness liberates the self, offering clarity, lightness and a renewed perspective on relationships and personal wellbeing.

Participants engaged in guided breathing techniques and reflective practices, demonstrating the physical and emotional relief that comes from releasing anger and bitterness. The interactive format allowed students and faculty to reflect on their own experiences, fostering a sense of connection and collective learning.

The session concluded with participants expressing a renewed sense of positivity and understanding, recognising that forgiveness is not a distant ideal but a practical approach to cultivating inner calm and resilience. The event reinforced Chitkara University’s commitment to nurturing emotional intelligence and holistic growth, empowering its community to lead with empathy and mindfulness.
