Mindfulness in Daily Life

Chitkara Happiness Centre, in collaboration with the Chitkara School of Psychology and Counselling, organised a transformative session titled “Unveiling the Magic of Mindfulness in Daily Life.” The session was conducted by Dr. Nanayanika Singh, Ex-Assistant Professor of Psychology at MGSIPA, Chandigarh, Government of Punjab, and focused on building emotional awareness through the practice of mindfulness.

Dr. Singh introduced mindfulness as a powerful tool for self-awareness, grounding the concept in five core attributes—patience, beginner’s mind, acceptance, gratitude, and non-judgement. She elaborated on how these qualities could be woven into everyday routines to enhance mental clarity, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

Participants were guided through four types of mindfulness practices: breathing mindfulness to anchor thoughts, drawing mindfulness to spark creativity, listening mindfulness to enhance empathy, and forgiveness mindfulness to foster emotional release. These hands-on exercises provided an immersive experience that encouraged deeper reflection and presence.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty, creating a shared space of calm, introspection, and learning. Towards the end, three students who demonstrated exceptional engagement and presence were recognised as Mindful Stars.

Through such initiatives, Chitkara University continues to emphasise the significance of emotional well-being and present-moment awareness in today’s fast-paced and often distracted world. The session left attendees with practical tools to cultivate mindfulness, both in academic life and beyond.
