Udaan 2013’ witness colossal gusto with 150 teams participating

Everyone at Chitkara School of Mass Communication was filled with excitement and zeal as Udaan 2013’ gave wings to about 150 teams from various colleges and universities to fly high by displaying their media skills.

There were various universities and institutions at Udaan-13, which was held at Chitkara University, Punjab, that assembled to explore their media dexterity. This was the third edition of the festival.

In the day-long fest, competitions were held in only media-related events like scribble pad, catch the glimpse, RJ hunt, news flash, ‘taza khabar’, documentary, layout mania, frame box and tickle your brain.

Various teams at the event were seen trying hard to carve their own niche on the platform that Udaan 2013’ provided to the participants.

The biggest draw was the RJ hunt where students tried to copy radio jockeys in FM stations. The event was organized at Pulitzer Hall, the main venue of the fest, and everyone enjoyed the event.

Doaba College of Jalandhar got overall trophy by winning 4 first positions . Kurukshetra University stood was runner up.

In the event Scribble Pad, Manish Verma was adjudged first from Doaba College Jalandhar and Sonia of Kurukshetra University stood second. In photography competition ` Catch the Glimpse’ Parampreet of Doaba College got first position and Aditya Bhattacharjee of LPU came second .

Purneet of CAMS Punjabi University Patiala won RJ Hunt competition and Sagar of SD College Chandigarh was runner up. In Layout mania the page designed by Jyoti Sharma of Kurukshetra University was judged the best followed by Rohit of DAV Chandigarh. Neha won TV news reading competition ` News Flash’ who represented Kurukshetra University and Amar Ulla Khan of LPU stood second.

In TV news reporting event ` Taza Khabar’ team of LPU bagged first position and Desh Bhagat University came behind. TV advertising competition ` Aditivity’ Desh Bhagat University won first position and Kurukshetra University stood second.

In video editing named ` Frame Box’ competition Paras of Doaba College stood first, while Karan Kumar of GNDU stood second.

Documentary making competition was won by Doaba Collage Jalandhar and the team of GNDU Regional campus Jallandhar stood second. Quiz competition` Tickle your Brain’ was won by Kurukshetra University team comprising Inderjeet and Sandeep Rathi where as CAMS Patiala team comprising Aditya Dutta and Parvez stood second.

The fest was inaugurated by Wing Commander R.S. Gill, Vice-President Chitkara University. In the evening, prizes were distributed by Dr. Ashok Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Madhu Chitkara.
