On the occasion of Lohri Festival, Radio Chitkara 107.8 FM celebrated the festival with students of a school from Village Mohi Khurd. The mood on the school was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri.

Lohri is a festival connected with the solar year. Generally, it is an accepted fact that this festival is to worship fire. This is particularly a happy occasion for the couples who for the first time celebrated Lohri after their marriage and also the first Lohri of a child born in a family. The wood crackles and burns, the fire blazes high, a circle of warmth on a cold winter’s night. Lohri is a joyous time to eat gur and peanuts, singing songs and share the warmth with loved ones.

One of the school teachers lit the sacred fire, which initiates the celebrations. The students sang songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab while teachers highlights the importance of Lohri festival.
Special program on Lohri festival on Radio Chitkara 107.8 FM was also aired apart from program recorded in School campus.
