Mr. Tushar Gupta, Dean, Department of Fashion Designing, Chitkara University was in conversation with AUTHINDIA Magazine and was published in AUTHINDIA Magazine, March 2021 Issue.

AuthIndia is an enterprise, based out of Lucknow and comprises young and spirited people working to explore the global market opportunities for India’s artisans, traditional arts, MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises). Their website provides a platform from where craftsmen can sell their artifacts around the globe. It aims to give an online platform to the craftsman to take their business to a whole new level.

Reflecting upon the importance of craft in India, Mr. Gupta talked about how crafts have been a physical manifestation of traditions, heritage, cultural values and beliefs.

He also mentioned that European brands have the edge in terms of creativity to capitalise on the craftsmanship of Indian artisans, an area where Indian Fashion brands need to catch up with the western countries.
