Dr. Ashutosh Mishra, Dean of Chitkara School of Mass Communication at Chitkara University, was recently invited as a distinguished resource person at a symposium hosted by the Sports University of Haryana, Rai. The event, themed ‘Play, Perform and Prosper: Career in Sports’, brought together thought leaders, students, and sports educators to explore the dynamic landscape of career opportunities in the field of sports.

During his address, Dr. Mishra delivered a compelling analysis of the expanding domain of sports media, drawing attention to how sports coverage has become a central feature across both traditional and digital platforms. He emphasised that the modern sports industry is no longer limited to athletes and coaches—it now includes a wide ecosystem of professionals, including sports journalists, broadcasters, content creators, and media strategists.

With the proliferation of digital platforms and the growing appetite for real-time, authentic sports narratives, Dr. Mishra underlined the need for skilled media professionals who can report, analyse, and present sports content with accuracy and flair. He noted that the demand for storytelling in sports has reached new heights, offering promising avenues for those pursuing careers in media and communication.

The symposium saw active participation from over 400 attendees, comprising students and faculty from a variety of educational institutions, signalling a strong interest in the confluence of sports and media. The event served as a platform to bridge academic insight with industry relevance, encouraging young minds to consider diverse career trajectories within the sports ecosystem.

In recognition of his insightful contribution, Dr. Mishra was felicitated by Shri Ashok Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the Sports University of Haryana and former Director General of Police, Uttarakhand. The honour reflected the esteem in which Dr. Mishra is held for his thought leadership in media education.
