The Department of Clinical Psychology organised a Community Mental Health Awareness and Screening Camp at Government Elementary Smart School, Mohi Khurd, to promote awareness about mental health and encourage early identification of emotional and psychological concerns.
Led by Dr. Shweta Narayan, Assistant Professor, the session focused on common mental health concerns, including stress and anxiety, along with emotional regulation and healthy coping strategies. Participants were introduced to practical ways of recognising emotional difficulties and managing everyday challenges through healthy coping mechanisms.
The session also highlighted the importance of identifying early signs of psychological distress and understanding when professional support may be required. Through discussions and awareness-based activities, participants were encouraged to approach mental health concerns with greater openness and understanding.
As part of the camp, a mental health screening component was conducted to help identify individuals who may benefit from further guidance or professional support. The screening provided an opportunity for participants to better understand their mental health needs and the available avenues for seeking assistance.
The camp witnessed the participation of 67 individuals and served as a platform for meaningful interaction around mental health and wellbeing. Such community-based initiatives help extend mental health awareness beyond clinical settings while encouraging timely support, informed conversations and a more understanding approach towards psychological wellbeing.
