Chitkara University marked World Paper Bag Day with an initiative that combined creativity, learning, and sustainability. The National Service Scheme, in collaboration with the Department of Interior Design, CSPA, organised a hands-on workshop for students of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Jhansla. While modest in scale, the event carried a profound message, highlighting the power of small, thoughtful actions to shape awareness and responsibility among young minds.

The workshop transformed ordinary sheets of paper into vibrant, imaginative bags. Red, blue, pastel, and patterned pages were folded, creased, and decorated by the students, each creation reflecting individuality and creativity. Some students added handles, others drew animals or rainbows, while many explored freely, discovering the joy of crafting their own paper bags. The process went beyond art; it became an experiential lesson in sustainability, encouraging children to understand the significance of mindful consumption and alternatives to plastic.

Through the simple act of making paper bags, the students were introduced to the concept of responsibility interactively and engagingly. Every fold symbolised intention, every decoration reflected thoughtfulness, and each completed bag carried a subtle but important lesson in environmental consciousness. The workshop emphasised that sustainability is not merely a theoretical concept but a practical choice, accessible through everyday actions.

The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and awareness. The handmade paper bags were not just objects; they were symbols of care, effort, and a commitment to better choices. Chitkara University continues to promote initiatives that foster creativity, responsibility, and environmental stewardship, encouraging students to translate awareness into action and nurturing a generation prepared to make thoughtful, sustainable decisions in their lives.
