MoU with NEI

In a significant move toward advancing environmental education and sustainability, Chitkara University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National EduTrust of India (NEI), New Delhi. This partnership aims to foster community engagement, climate action, and a deeper commitment to sustainable development, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and India’s vision for a greener future.

The MoU was formalised in the presence of Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor of Chitkara University, and Samarth Sharma, CEO of the National EduTrust of India. Through this strategic collaboration, both institutions aim to leverage their combined expertise in environmental education to create impactful initiatives. Central to the partnership is the establishment of EcoAction Centers under the guidance of Chitkara University’s Centre of Excellence for Sustainability. These centers will act as hubs for research, community involvement, and entrepreneurial activities focused on the circular economy, renewable resources, and sustainable practices.

This collaboration also seeks to enhance academic leadership in sustainability by developing specialised courses that will empower students and faculty to actively address pressing environmental challenges. Through action-based research and knowledge sharing, the partnership envisions shaping future leaders who can contribute meaningfully to global sustainability efforts.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara, while speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, emphasised the university’s mission to drive positive change by integrating sustainability into education. “At Chitkara University, we believe that education is a powerful tool to inspire transformation. This partnership with NEI will enable us to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the environmental challenges of today and tomorrow,” she said.

Samarth Sharma, CEO of NEI, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “This partnership with Chitkara University allows us to expand our impact, building a generation that understands the value of environmental stewardship and community resilience. Together, we aim to contribute meaningfully to India’s sustainable development.”

As part of this MoU, Chitkara University and NEI are committed to advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), aiming to create a more eco-conscious and resilient society. Through joint initiatives, the partnership will not only foster academic growth but also drive real-world impact, supporting local communities and global sustainability efforts. By nurturing a culture of sustainability and innovation, Chitkara University continues to set new benchmarks in education, contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
