Chitkara University has been shortlisted in the ‘International Strategy of the Year Award 2021’ in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Awards-2021. The Times Higher Education Asia Awards are dubbed the “Oscars of Higher Education” because it witnesses the participation of over 150 globally recognised institutions from 30 Asian nations. The selection for 10 categories includes inspiring stories from 66 institutions in 22 nations and territories. THE Asia Awards provide a major international forum for recognising outstanding leadership and institutional achievement, as well as celebrating Asia’s higher education excellence in all of its forms.

Chitkara University is the only Indian University shortlisted under this category. This award recognises universities that have excelled in developing institutional alliances, overseas operations and a strategic approach to international staff, student recruitment evidence of financial success, and a strategy that has raised the university’s visibility and met its goals. These awards focus primarily on activity during the 2020 calendar year.

There were two other categories that did not require submissions in addition to the eight listed that have been listed. These are based on data collected by THE for its rankings, but they indicate something about university performance that the rankings don’t. The two types of data are:

THE DataPoints Improved Performance Award: For this award, THE rankings data are used to assess the institutions whose performance has improved most in recent years against specific measures.

THE DataPoints Social Impact Award: This category rewards transparency, highlighting the universities who have provided the most public evidence in a group of THE Impact Ranking SDGs that relate to social issues such as health, education and poverty.

Chitkara University is the only university from North India to feature in the top list of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021 released by Time Higher Education in April this year. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The worldwide ranking of THE IMPACT rankings placed Chitkara University in the coveted rank slab of 401-600 in the list that witnessed 1,115 institutions from 94 countries.
