Chitkara University shares higher education perspective at CII Conference

Dr. Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-Founder, Chitkara University, participated as a panellist at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Capacity Building Conference on Growing Opportunities from Free Trade Agreements – An Industry Perspective. She joined the session Unlocking Growth: Advancing Services Trade and Investment through FTAs, where she discussed the role of higher education in supporting India’s growing engagement with global markets.
During the discussion, Dr. Chitkara highlighted the need to prepare globally skilled professionals through quality education, research, and skill development. She also spoke about the importance of stronger industry-academia partnerships, innovation, and international collaboration in helping students and institutions respond to emerging global opportunities.
Reflecting on the discussion, Dr. Madhu Chitkara said, “As India’s engagement with global markets continues to expand, universities have an important responsibility to prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills, and outlook needed to contribute across international contexts. This calls for closer collaboration between academia and industry, sustained investment in research, and meaningful global partnerships that strengthen the quality and relevance of higher education.”
The conference brought together industry and academic stakeholders to discuss how free trade agreements can create new opportunities for trade, investment, and economic growth. It also highlighted the contribution of higher education in preparing a workforce for an increasingly connected global economy.
