Chitkara University Ranked Among India’s Top Ten for Global Sustainable Impact
Chitkara University has once again earned national and international acclaim by securing a place among the Top 10 universities in India in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025. The university has also been ranked in the 301–400 band globally, reinforcing its unwavering commitment to sustainable development, impactful research, and excellence in education.
The THE Impact Rankings are a globally recognised framework that assesses universities for their contributions towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the 2025 edition, Chitkara University emerged as a national leader in multiple categories, reflecting its holistic approach to education, research, and social responsibility.
One of the standout achievements for the university was its performance in SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, where it secured the first position in India (shared rank) and was placed in the 101–200 band globally. This recognition highlights the university’s strategic collaborations with academic institutions, industries, and community stakeholders to drive collective progress and innovation.
Chitkara University also achieved remarkable success in SDG 07 – Affordable and Clean Energy, ranking 12th in India and 96th globally, underlining its contributions to clean energy research, campus sustainability efforts, and green initiatives. In the realm of SDG 09 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the university secured the sixth rank nationally and was placed in the 201–300 global band, demonstrating its emphasis on fostering a robust innovation ecosystem and industry-academia synergy.
Further, the university was ranked seventh in India under SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and placed in the global 201–300 band, reflecting its efforts in promoting sustainable practices on campus and beyond. For SDG 13 – Climate Action, Chitkara earned the fifth spot nationally, indicating the depth of its commitment to addressing climate change through education, research, and action-driven policies.
In addition to these, Chitkara University received national rankings of 10th under SDG 04 – Quality Education and SDG 06 – Clean Water and Sanitation, both placed globally in the 101–200 band, reiterating its role in driving inclusive, equitable, and impactful education.
