Chitkara University Partners with CSIR-IHBT Palampur to Advance Collaborative Research

Chitkara University, Punjab, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, to strengthen cooperation in research, knowledge exchange, and scientific training.
The agreement will open opportunities for students, scholars, and faculty members to work with the institute’s laboratories, specialised instruments, and research teams. The partnership will cover a range of disciplines, including Biotechnology, Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Agricultural Sciences, and Management.
Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor of Chitkara University, said collaborations with national research institutions are important for academic learning and scientific inquiry. “Working with organisations such as CSIR-IHBT allows our students and faculty to engage with established research environments and learn directly from experienced scientists,” she said.
The MoU outlines joint research projects, internships, academic interactions, and laboratory training for students and early-stage researchers. These activities are expected to provide practical exposure and encourage interaction between researchers from both institutions.
The collaboration also indicates a shared commitment to the priorities outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas related to quality education, innovation, and responsible scientific practices.
The agreement is part of Chitkara University’s ongoing engagement with research organisations to expand opportunities for academic collaboration and learning.
