Chitkara School of Psychology and Counselling organised a seminar titled “Closing the Empathy Gap” to encourage conversations around men’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

The seminar featured Lt. Col. (Dr.) Rakesh Sharma, Registrar of Chitkara University, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on his professional experience, he discussed the stigma and social expectations that can sometimes prevent men from openly discussing emotional challenges or seeking professional support.

The session highlighted the importance of creating supportive environments where men can express vulnerability without fear of judgement. Participants also explored the role of empathy, open communication and timely support in addressing mental health concerns.

The seminar included discussions on practical strategies for building resilience and managing emotional challenges. It provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on the importance of recognising mental health needs and supporting those around them.

A total of 63 participants attended the seminar, engaging in discussions around emotional wellbeing, resilience and the need for more open conversations about men’s mental health.

The initiative formed part of Chitkara School of Psychology and Counselling’s efforts to promote mental health awareness and encourage a more supportive campus environment where seeking help is viewed as an important step towards wellbeing.
