Chitkara University Observes Republic Day with Environmental Commitment Through Tree Plantation Drive
Chitkara University, Punjab, marked Republic Day 2025 with a strong message of environmental consciousness and civic responsibility by organising a tree plantation drive at Zero Ground, adjacent to the Sportorium block. As the nation honoured the anniversary of its Constitution, the university chose to deepen the day’s significance by planting not only trees but also a renewed commitment to sustainability and nation-building.
The initiative brought together senior leadership, including Pro Vice Chancellors, Directors, and faculty members, all participating in the plantation of saplings as a testament to long-term ecological responsibility. The act served as a reminder that the foundation of a nation lies not only in its democratic values but also in how it nurtures the land and the environment that sustains its people. In aligning the celebration of Republic Day with a tangible step toward environmental preservation, the university reinforced the intrinsic connection between civic duty and sustainable development.
The plantation drive was more than a commemorative gesture. It was a proactive expression of the university’s institutional values—rooted in inclusivity, resilience, and foresight. Chitkara University has consistently advocated for holistic development, blending academic excellence with community engagement and environmental stewardship. The event stood as an example of this philosophy in action, engaging members of the academic community in a shared purpose that extended beyond the classroom.
This initiative also reflects the university’s broader mission to prepare students not only as future professionals but as socially responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to the global challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.
