Chitkara University and MGSIPA, Chandigarh jointly organized a Media Workshop on e-Governance

Chitkara University & Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Chandigarh, jointly organized a Media Workshop on e-Governance, Right to Information Act (RTI) and Right to Service Act here today. About 50 students of Mass Communication from Chitkara University led by Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee, Professor Emeritus, attended the workshop.

In the first thematic session on RTI, Mr. S.S.Gill, IAS (Retd.), MGSIPA Resource Person (RTI), explained its objectives and salient features. In the second session, Mr. Umang Sharma, a senior faculty of MGSIPA, talked about e-Governance and gave an account of e-Governance programme being implemented at the state and central government level. He gave an account of the major reforms taken by the Punjab Government under e-Governance Plan for the benefit of common people. Mr. Jaspal Mittal, Secretary, Right to Service Commission, Punjab, provided information to students on the Punjab Right to Service Act.

Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee of School of Mass Communication of Chitkara University expressed gratitude to MGSIPA’s Director and other faculty members for taking the initiative of equipping the Mass Communication students about various innovative issues, which will be beneficial to the students of Journalism in their future career.
