Chitkara University, in association with the Centre of Excellence on Agricultural Residue Management, organised SustainX Tech: Industry Leadership Forum on Integrated Waste Management Solutions, bringing together key stakeholders to address pressing environmental challenges through innovation and collaboration. The initiative, led under the Chitkara University Research and Innovation Network (CURIN), was held in collaboration with NDRI Karnal, PAU Ludhiana, PSCST Chandigarh and PRSC Punjab.

The forum served as an engaging platform where industry experts, government officials, researchers and non-profit organisations explored current waste management practices and discussed scalable solutions for real-world implementation. Panel conversations explored the possibilities of technology-driven processes that reduce waste, improve recycling systems and strengthen environmental responsibility across sectors. The participation of multiple institutions allowed for diverse perspectives and practical insights, aimed at aligning sustainability goals with industry needs.

Prominent speakers included Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University and Dr. Sandhir Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, who highlighted the importance of aligning scientific research with industrial application. They were joined by Pritpal Singh, Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology Chandigarh, HS Cheema, Managing Director, Cheema Boilers Limited and Dr. Brijendra Pateriya, Director, Punjab Remote Sensing Centre Ludhiana. The discussions centred on agricultural residue management, circular economy practices and the growing relevance of data-driven systems in environmental planning.

The event also recognised sustainability champions and featured demonstrations of advanced facilities that support environmental research and industrial collaboration. These presentations helped drive awareness on the need for cost-effective waste management systems that can be adopted by both urban and rural communities. The conversations generated fresh ideas while encouraging industry partners to engage with academic institutions for solution-based research.

At the forum’s conclusion, participants expressed optimism about creating stronger networks between academia, industry and local authorities to address environmental challenges more effectively. The deliberations opened avenues for joint projects, policy recommendations and field-based initiatives that can contribute to measurable progress in sustainability.

SustainX Tech reinforced the value of collective action and positioned Chitkara University as an active contributor to environmental solutions driven by technology and research. The university remains focused on shaping purposeful collaborations that enhance sustainability practices and support long-term ecological responsibility.
