Chitkara University’s National Service Scheme (NSS) and Centre of Excellence for Sustainability launched the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign at Govt. Smart School, Thuha, promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility. The initiative aimed to engage the local community in sustainable practices and emphasize the importance of hygiene.

The event kicked off with a vibrant cleanliness drive led by NSS volunteers, supported by school administration. Volunteers worked alongside students and staff to clean the school premises, transforming the task into a collective effort. The volunteers’ enthusiasm sparked a sense of responsibility among all participants, encouraging them to adopt cleaner habits.

In addition to the cleanliness drive, the volunteers performed a “nukkadnatak” (street play), which effectively conveyed the message of hygiene and sanitation. The play engaged the audience with its informative and entertaining content, highlighting the importance of cleanliness for both individual and community health.

The day concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony where volunteers, students, and staff committed to maintaining cleanliness and promoting sustainable practices in their daily lives. This collective pledge underscored the importance of individual responsibility in fostering a healthier environment.

The “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign at Govt. Smart School, Thuha, reflects Chitkara University’s dedication to social responsibility. Through this initiative, the university demonstrated that collective action can drive long-term change, inspiring the community to work towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
