Chitkara University Concludes Seven-Day NSS Camp Focused on Service and Leadership
Chitkara University successfully concluded its NSS 7 Days Special Camp 2024, organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit in collaboration with Chitkara College of Pharmacy and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the camp provided a meaningful platform for students to engage in community service while developing leadership and teamwork skills.
The week-long program was structured to balance hands-on service activities with learning sessions and recreational engagement. The camp commenced with an oath ceremony that set the tone for collective responsibility and civic awareness. Physical well-being was integrated into the schedule through daily yoga sessions, while community building was strengthened through introductory and group bonding exercises.
A central focus of the camp was raising awareness and promoting action on critical social and health issues. Volunteers took part in the Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, led a Swachh Bharat rally, and organised hygiene awareness drives and health check-ups in nearby villages. These initiatives provided practical exposure to students while addressing real-time concerns in local communities.
In addition to service activities, the camp hosted several informative and interactive sessions. Participants benefitted from a trauma management workshop by Adrija Chakrabarti and a detailed talk on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by Rina Angel. These sessions broadened the understanding of students on health, safety, and sustainable development, aligning their learning with global priorities.
The camp also included physical activities, sports, and cultural events that nurtured creativity, enthusiasm, and teamwork. Games like treasure hunts and tug of war, along with the final day’s cultural performances, created a vibrant and inclusive environment.
The concluding valediction highlighted the sense of purpose and unity fostered during the week. The NSS 7 Days Special Camp 2024 served not just as a service initiative but as a transformative learning experience that instilled responsibility, empathy, and leadership in every participant—reinforcing Chitkara University’s commitment to shaping socially conscious and proactive citizens.
