CHIAFF 2026 Celebrates Animation and Digital Storytelling at Chitkara University

Chitkara University hosted CHIAFF’26, the Chitkara International Animation and Film Festival, at the Chitkara Design School’s Department of Animation. The two-day event brought together students, creators and industry professionals for screenings, discussions and showcases focused on animation and storytelling.
The festival included film screenings, interactive sessions and conversations that examined different approaches to animation and narrative design. Participants had the opportunity to engage with practising creators and learn about their artistic processes, influences and the changing landscape of digital media.
Among the visiting speakers were Harun Robert, known for engaging young audiences through creativity and DIY art, and Prateek Sethi, whose series FAQ has influenced many emerging digital storytellers. The festival also honoured animation filmmaker Nina Sabnani with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her contribution to animation. In addition, several industry professionals and creators led discussions and masterclasses, sharing insights into their work and contemporary animation practices.
Through screenings, conversations and student interactions, CHIAFF’26 provided an opportunity to engage with work beyond the classroom and reflect on the possibilities within animation and related media. The festival forms part of the ongoing academic activities at Chitkara Design School that connect learners with practitioners working across the design and media sectors.
