Mark Twain rightly said, “I never could make a good impromptu speech without several hours to prepare it.”

If the wordsmith feels so, there is little hope for us. Behold, that is where Toastmasters club Chitkara University comes to the rescue with its meticulously planned curriculum so that the speaker in you can flap its wings and soar. The basic unit of communication is not words but idea. The students of ECE, second and third year gathered in the Einstein Hall to brainstorm and discuss hitherto their opinions on topics of interest.

The event mettled up the students to shed their stage fear as it provided them a platform for public speaking. Group Discussions tests participants on their language and the ability to think on the feet. It is a clear indicative of an all rounded personality. Vasudha from ECE, fifth Semester, stood first, Abhilasha secured the second position and Atibha bagged the third prize. The event was coordinated and hosted by Toastmaster Birkaran and toastmaster Parul from CSE. The event culminated in a healthy interaction with students highlighting the importance of communication skills in professional life. The club mentor waxed eloquent on the ‘employability’ factor that is pivotal for placements. The students were enthused with motivation at the note “much speech is one thing, well timed speech is another” as rightly uttered by Sophocles.
