The Department of Clinical Psychology organised “Samvedna: Recognising Mental Health Concerns at the Workplace” for the supporting staff at Maslow Hall. The one-hour session focused on building awareness around common mental health concerns and encouraging a supportive and psychologically safe workplace.

Guided by Dr. Nandan Kumar Thakur, Head of the Department, the session covered stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and substance use. Participants were introduced to early warning signs that may indicate emotional or psychological distress in colleagues and were encouraged to approach such situations with sensitivity and understanding.

The session also included discussions on active listening, empathetic communication and appropriate referral, helping participants understand how they can respond when someone may require professional support. The importance of self-care and maintaining personal wellbeing while supporting others was also highlighted.

Through the interactive session, participants gained practical insights into recognising mental health concerns and responding to them appropriately. The discussion also addressed the importance of reducing stigma around mental health and creating an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help.

The session reinforced the role of awareness, timely support and open communication in promoting mental wellbeing at the workplace. It provided supporting staff with practical approaches to contribute towards a more inclusive, stigma-free and psychologically safe work environment.
