Chitkara University joins UK–India Higher Education Roundtable at House of Lords

Chitkara University participated in the UK–India Higher Education Roundtable held at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London, on 22 September, with President and Co-Founder Dr. Madhu Chitkara and Pro Vice Chancellor – Strategic Initiatives Hazel Siromoni representing the University. The roundtable brought together senior leaders from the higher education sector to discuss the theme, “Scaling Together India–UK Higher Education in the Post-FTA Era.”

Hosted by Jessica Turner, CEO, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, and The Lord Patel of Bradford, the roundtable examined the progress of India–UK higher education initiatives, areas requiring greater engagement and practical recommendations for institutions and policymakers in both countries.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara shared perspectives from Chitkara University’s experience of developing academic links overseas and building an ecosystem focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. She referred to the British Council grant received jointly with Glasgow Caledonian University and the University’s growing startup and innovation ecosystem as examples of areas with scope for further engagement between institutions in India and the UK.

“International engagement becomes more meaningful when institutions identify areas of shared interest and create opportunities for sustained exchange. Conversations such as these help bring institutional experiences and perspectives into the wider discussion on the future of India–UK higher education,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-Founder, Chitkara University.

Hazel Siromoni also participated in the discussions, engaging with senior representatives from leading UK universities. Chitkara University was subsequently included in two focused working committees on Startups and Internationalization, providing a forum for continued exchange in these areas.

The participation reflects Chitkara University’s engagement with international higher education networks and its continued work across academic exchange, innovation and entrepreneurship.
