Dr. Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-Founder, Chitkara University, was a distinguished speaker in the virtual panel discussion on Emerging Global Risks, jointly organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), India Affiliate. The discussion brought together leaders from industry, academia and public institutions to examine the issues shaping the Global Risks Report 2027.

During the session, Dr. Chitkara proposed Institutional Adaptation Risk as an important addition to the global risk agenda. She said that while technology is changing rapidly, the bigger challenge is helping institutions across education, business, governance and society adapt with the same speed and resilience.

“Technology will continue to change the way we live and work, but institutions must also strengthen the human qualities that support good judgement, adaptability and responsible decision-making,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara. “As we prepare for the future, we need to give equal importance to technology and the values that guide how it is used.”

Dr. Chitkara also spoke about the importance of the Human Quotient (HQ). She said that as artificial intelligence and automation reshape every sector, qualities such as ethical judgement, empathy, adaptability, resilience and purpose-driven leadership will remain essential. She added that the future strength of institutions will depend not only on the technologies they adopt but also on the people who lead and shape them.

The panel was part of a wider discussion on emerging global risks and the role of institutions in responding to complex challenges. Dr. Chitkara’s participation in the panel is part of Chitkara University’s continued involvement in international conversations on institutional resilience, responsible innovation and the future of education and society.
