BAJA SAEINDIA Chitkara University Engineering Education Discussion

Chitkara University hosted an interaction with the BAJA SAEINDIA Organising Committee and automotive industry experts to discuss future mobility, experiential learning and the changing needs of engineering education.

The interaction brought together Balraj Subramaniam, Chairman, Organising Committee, BAJA SAEINDIA; Jatin Garg, Honorary Secretary, Organising Committee, BAJA SAEINDIA; Dr K. C. Vora, Senior Advisor, BAJA SAEINDIA Organising Committee; and Balraj Bhanot, Automotive Homologation Expert and Former Director, ARAI. Chitkara University was represented by Dr. Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-founder; Dr. Sandhir Sharma, Vice Chancellor; and Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Registrar.

The discussion covered the role of BAJA SAEINDIA in hands-on engineering education through its Electric Vehicle, Mechanical BAJA, Autonomous BAJA and Hydrogen BAJA categories. Students conceptualise, design, analyse, fabricate and validate single-seater all-terrain vehicles before taking part in static and dynamic evaluations.

“Experiential learning gives students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to practical engineering challenges. Through initiatives such as BAJA SAEINDIA, students develop technical expertise while also learning to work in teams, take responsibility and solve problems in a structured manner,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, President and Co-founder, Chitkara University.

The program also included a discussion on the Virtual Round of BAJA SAEINDIA, which uses digital engineering tools and simulation-based assessments to evaluate vehicle design, engineering analysis and innovation. The interaction also explored ways to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry in the automotive and mobility sectors.
