The Office of Student Life at Chitkara University organised an insightful session titled “Self-Awareness and Independent Decision-Making: Defining Freedom Beyond Social Expectations”, bringing together over 230 students for an engaging discussion on emotional well-being, self-awareness and conscious decision-making.

The session focused on helping students understand the importance of developing clarity, courage and self-trust while making personal and professional decisions. Participants explored the concept of inner freedom and were encouraged to move beyond societal expectations and external validation by making choices aligned with their own values and awareness.

Students were introduced to practical techniques for overcoming the fear of failure, fear of judgement and the internal conflicts that often influence decision-making. The discussion highlighted the importance of observing both bodily sensations and mental patterns while making choices, enabling students to respond thoughtfully rather than react to external pressures.

One of the highlights of the session was a guided mind-body meditation that helped participants experience calmness, emotional balance and mental clarity. The reflective exercise encouraged students to become more mindful of their thoughts and emotions, creating greater awareness in everyday decision-making.

The session also introduced a simple and practical approach to evaluating decisions by mindfully observing physical and mental responses. This technique provided students with a valuable framework for making choices that are aligned with their inner values and long-term well-being.

The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students actively engaged in meaningful discussions on managing self-doubt, overcoming external expectations and making confident, independent decisions. The thoughtful exchange of ideas reinforced the importance of self-awareness as a foundation for personal growth and responsible leadership.
