Chitkara University hosts Well-being Session based on PERMA Framework

The Office of Student Life (OSL) at Chitkara University organised an interactive session on Happiness and Well-being for students of the Centre of Global Education. The session was designed around the internationally recognised PERMA well-being model, which focuses on five key dimensions of flourishing: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment.

Through reflective discussions and experiential activities, students explored practical approaches to enhancing their overall well-being. The session highlighted the role of positive emotions in everyday life and examined how meaningful engagement can contribute to greater focus, purpose, and personal growth.

A dedicated segment on the Four Elements of Joy included singing, dancing, laughing, and playing. This activity encouraged students to participate actively, nurturing an atmosphere of enthusiasm, openness, and self-expression. The activities prompted participants to step beyond their comfort zones and view challenges as opportunities for learning and development.

As part of the Relationships pillar, students took part in a gratitude exercise that encouraged them to connect with family members and loved ones through calls or messages. The activity reinforced the value of appreciation, emotional connection, and supportive relationships in promoting well-being.

The session also focused on the importance of meaning and contribution, inviting students to reflect on how acts of kindness and service can positively influence both individual and collective well-being. Conversations around recent achievements provided an opportunity for students to acknowledge their progress, recognise their strengths, and build confidence.

Mindfulness practices introduced during the session offered practical techniques to help students remain present, manage daily pressures, and cultivate balance in their personal and academic lives.

Through initiatives such as these, Chitkara University continues to support student development by creating opportunities that encourage self-awareness, emotional well-being, and meaningful engagement within the university community.
