Chitkara University Receives IGBC Platinum Rating for Green Campus Development

Chitkara University’s Rockefeller Block has been awarded the IGBC Platinum Rating Certificate in recognition of excellence as a certified green project. The recognition highlights the University’s continued focus on environmentally responsible infrastructure and sustainable campus development.
The award was presented to Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University, during the IGBC Certified Green Projects Felicitation Ceremony by Jagjit Singh Majha, Chairman, IGBC Chandigarh Chapter and MD, Innovative Housing & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.; Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta, Co-Chair, IGBC Green Hill Habitat Rating System and Former Advisor (Town Planning), PUDA; Col. Shailesh Pathak, Immediate Past Chair, IGBC Chandigarh Chapter and CEO, Art N Glass; and Nilesh Kumar Rana, Deputy Director, CII IGBC. Project Architect Ar. Sukumar Jeirath and Project Consultant Dr. Prateek Srivastva were also present at the ceremony on behalf of Chitkara University. Dr. Sudarshan Pal Singh, Vice President, Office of Infrastructure Development, Chitkara University, attended the event as well.
Speaking on the recognition, Dr. Madhu Chitkara said, “Sustainable development in educational institutions must go beyond intent and become part of the way campuses are planned and built. This recognition reflects the consistent efforts made towards creating infrastructure that is environmentally responsible and aligned with long-term institutional priorities.”
The IGBC Platinum Rating acknowledges the efforts of the University’s Office of Infrastructure in integrating sustainability, efficiency, and environmentally conscious practices into campus infrastructure. The Rockefeller Block was recognised for meeting established green building standards aimed at supporting responsible resource use and sustainable design.
The recognition adds to Chitkara University’s ongoing initiatives in sustainable campus planning and infrastructure development, with a continued emphasis on creating environmentally conscious learning spaces.
