Chitkara University Commemorates World Wetlands Day with Visit to Siswan Dam

National Service Scheme, Chitkara University organised an educational visit to Siswan Dam, Chandigarh, to commemorate World Wetlands Day. Conducted under the Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Program, supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and inspired by Mission LiFE, the visit followed the global theme, “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage,” highlighting the role of wetlands in sustaining ecological balance and cultural practices.

Students from the Department of Psychology participated in the visit. The activity highlighted the role of traditional knowledge in wetland conservation and provided practical ecological learning.

The visit forms part of the university’s ongoing engagement with environmental initiatives and its efforts to integrate experiential learning into academic programs.
