The National Service Scheme, Chitkara University observed Women’s Equality Day on 26 August 2025 at Mohi Kalan, the university’s newly adopted village. The initiative focused on awareness of women’s health and hygiene, along with a community plantation activity linked to local development efforts.

Led by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Nursing, Chitkara University, the session addressed basic health practices and shared information relevant to the everyday health concerns of women in the village.

Women from the village, along with the Sarpanch, also participated in planting saplings at the site where a sewing centre is planned to be established. The activity linked environmental awareness with efforts to support skill-based opportunities within the community.

The presence of an all-women panchayat, led by a woman Sarpanch, was a notable aspect of the day and reflected women’s participation in local governance. The initiative forms part of the university’s ongoing NSS activities that connect student engagement with community-based learning and social awareness.
