Chitkara University and JioGames Launch Innovation Centre to Blend Gaming and Research
Chitkara University has launched the JioGames Innovation Centre, an initiative that positions gaming as a catalyst for innovation, immersive learning, and interdisciplinary research. The centre brings together technology and creativity to foster advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, engineering, and medicine.
The inauguration was held on campus in the presence of Dr. Ashok K. Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University, and Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University. They were joined by R.V. Balasubramaniam Iyer, Vice President, Jio Platforms Limited, T.P.S. Walia, Jio State Head & CEO, Punjab; and Dr. Cavita Taragi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University. Together they unveiled the facility, marking the beginning of a new phase in academic and industry collaboration.
The JioGames Innovation Centre has been designed as a state-of-the-art hub featuring zones for esports, streaming, and premium cloud gaming. It aims to provide students with direct exposure to advanced technologies, enabling them to translate play into progress. With hands-on opportunities and access to emerging platforms, the centre is expected to prepare students for careers that intersect gaming, research, and applied technology at a global level.
University leaders described the centre as a step towards reimagining higher education, where interactive platforms such as gaming become tools for problem-solving, design, and innovation. For JioGames, the collaboration underscores a commitment to nurturing future talent and strengthening India’s role in the global gaming and technology sectors.
