Chitkara University Marks World Emoji Day with Film Showcase and Conversations on Expression

Chitkara University, Punjab, celebrated World Emoji Day on 17th July 2025 with a unique blend of digital culture, cinema, and storytelling, reminding everyone that language is constantly evolving. Organised by the Office of Student Affairs, the event highlighted how emojis, today’s universal symbols—are shaping communication and human connection.
The celebration was headlined by the trailer screening and promotion of Ghich Pich, an upcoming film directed by Ankur Singla, featuring a young and dynamic cast including Shivam Kakar, Kabir Nanda, and Aryan Singh Rana. The film’s preview struck a chord with the audience, capturing emotions that were messy, relatable, and instantly recognisable, much like the emojis we use every day.
Following the screening, students engaged in an interactive Q&A session with the cast. What unfolded was an honest, unscripted exchange on the chaos of storytelling, the challenges of performance, and the beauty of cinema as a mirror of life’s complexities. With light-hearted banter and candid reflections, the discussion brought students closer to the creative process.
More than a celebration, the event became a cultural moment, an exploration of how modern symbols, art, and dialogue intersect to foster meaningful expression. True to its spirit, Chitkara University once again underscored its commitment to nurturing creativity, curiosity, and the joy of collective experiences.
World Emoji Day ended, but its colourful impact lingered, leaving behind a reminder that even the smallest symbols can carry the biggest stories.
