On 10th July 2025, Chitkara University, Punjab, observed Guru Poornima with quiet reverence and creative expression. Organised by the Office of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Chitkara Design School, a poster-making competition became the chosen medium through which students conveyed gratitude to their mentors.

Instead of grand speeches or ceremonial rituals, the event allowed students to express their reverence through art. The room resonated with focus and intention as participants worked with diverse mediums, charcoal, watercolours, acrylics, and graphite, transforming blank sheets into heartfelt tributes. Each poster told a story: some abstract, some literal, yet all united by the shared sentiment of respect for teachers. Motifs of symbolic lamps, guiding figures, and elements inspired by Indian tradition merged seamlessly with modern interpretations, reflecting how mentorship continues to shape lives.

The competition was not about ranking talent but about creating a space for reflection and remembrance. A select few artworks were recognised for their creativity, emotional depth, and execution, but every entry carried its own weight as a personal “thank you.”

Through lines, colours, and forms, students of Chitkara University honoured their mentors who had once illuminated their paths. The celebration served as a reminder that teaching is a timeless act of planting seeds, seeds that continue to grow in unseen yet deeply meaningful ways.

On this Guru Poornima, art became the language of gratitude, carrying sentiments far deeper than words.
