NSS Promotes Ecological Awareness Through Educational Outreach on International Day for Biological Diversity

On 22nd May 2025, in observance of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the National Service Scheme of Chitkara University, Punjab, in collaboration with Govt. Senior Secondary School, Jhansla, Rajpura, organised an educational outreach program aimed at deepening ecological awareness among school students.
As part of the initiative, students visited the Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, Zirakpur, where they explored the diversity of life through guided observation. The excursion allowed them to witness animals such as elephants, tigers, and monkeys in environments designed to mirror their natural habitats. Each encounter became an opportunity to reflect on the complexity of ecosystems and the importance of conservation.
Throughout the visit, the focus remained on attentiveness, encouraging students to notice details in movement, form, and surroundings. This direct engagement with nature fostered reflections that often remain unexplored in traditional classroom settings, reinforcing that meaningful learning also comes from patient observation of the world.
The program aimed not only to educate but also to inspire a lasting sense of environmental responsibility in younger generations. By introducing these concepts early, Chitkara University continues to cultivate curiosity, awareness, and respect for biodiversity, affirming its commitment to education that nurtures both knowledge and empathy for the natural world.
