On the occasion of B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, the National Service Scheme, in collaboration with the Chitkara School of Health Sciences, stepped beyond the university campus on 14th April 2025 to conduct a meaningful eye check-up and screening camp at Government Elementary School, Ram Nagar, Rajpura. What began as a medical initiative transformed into a heartfelt gesture of care and connection for the young children of the school.

Volunteers from NSS and Chitkara School of Health Sciences worked in quiet harmony, turning classrooms into makeshift clinics. Children, some experiencing an eye check-up for the very first time, sat with curiosity and wonder. The joy on their faces as they saw clearly through a lens—maybe for the first time—was a silent reminder of how impactful simple healthcare can be. For many, blackboards, books, and even the faces of their friends suddenly came into sharp, joyful focus.

What stood out was not just the medical support, but the spirit in which it was delivered. The volunteers brought more than equipment, they brought patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to serve. Their presence reflected the values Dr. B.R. Ambedkar stood for: equality, dignity, and access to basic rights, including health.

This outreach effort didn’t need a big stage to leave a lasting impact. It created a moment of clarity—in vision and purpose—reminding everyone that service often begins with simply helping someone see the world a little better.
