Chandigarh is linked to the rest of the country by air, road and rail networks.
Chandigarh is connected by air to major India cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The Chandigarh Airport, soon to become Chandigarh International Airport, is just 11 kms away from the city centre in Sector 17.
The city is conveniently located within motorable distance from a number of major cities of north India. National Highways 21 and 22 run through the city, and excellent road condition with pleasant views on either side of the road offer a pleasant drive. It is approximately 250 kms north of New Delhi and takes nearly five hours for the journey.
Chandigarh is linked with rest of the country with an effective rail network. Important trains such as the Shatabdi Express and the Himalayan Queen provide connection with New Delhi on a daily basis. There are also trains to other important cities such as Mumbai and Kolkata. The Chandigarh railway station is about 8 kms from the city center in Sector 17.
