Leadership Excellence Redefined at Workshop Conducted by Chitkara Happiness Centre
Chitkara Happiness Centre in collaboration with Chitkara University organised a Management Development Program (MDP) for the leaders of Spray Engineering Devices Limited. The one-day workshop, titled “Excellence by Design – Define Your Own Leadership Journey”, was designed to strengthen leadership capabilities in an evolving workplace.
The program opened with the Funeral Activity, an exercise that encouraged participants to reflect on personal values, legacy and the kind of impact they aim to create within their organisations and society. This was followed by the Commitment-Capability Matrix, a framework that enabled leaders to assess team members’ skills and levels of commitment. The exercise highlighted the importance of contextual leadership and adaptability in managing diverse teams.
Participants explored models of situational and empathetic leadership, focusing on how leaders can adapt their styles to individual motivations. The session also examined motivational drivers, helping leaders understand what inspires their teams and how to channel those drivers into better performance and engagement.
A notable feature of the program was the Appreciation Circle, which reinforced the role of gratitude and acknowledgment in fostering trust and connection. The activity highlighted how effective leadership is rooted in recognition and value creation rather than control.
The MDP concluded with leaders reflecting on their role as change agents who can inspire through empathy, adaptability and purpose. The initiative underlined the philosophy of Chitkara Happiness Centre to equip organisations with practical tools that promote growth, wellbeing and sustainable impact.
