Chitkara University Pays Tribute to Kargil Heroes and Their Legacy

Chitkara University, Punjab, commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with a session that brought history, courage and lived experience to the forefront. Organised by the Office of Student Affairs under the Viksit Bharat@2047 initiative, the event featured Vir Chakra recipient Col. Deepak Rampal, who shared reflections from the battleground.

Col. Rampal spoke with the gravity of someone who had once faced life and death and accepted both. His words went beyond remembrance, inviting participants to understand duty stripped of medals and uniforms, duty as standing your ground for the person beside you and the land beneath your feet.

He recalled moments from the Kargil war, honouring names and faces that never returned. His stories carried the weight of friendships forged under fire, missions completed in freezing winds and loss that remains.

The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Registrar Lt Col. (Dr.) Rakesh Sharma, expressing deep respect and gratitude.Through such moments of remembrance and reflection, the legacy of Kargil continues to inspire our actions, conversations and the values we uphold.
