Chitkara University Celebrates 62nd National Maritime Day with Intra-Departmental Sports Championship

Chitkara University commemorated the 62nd National Maritime Day with a spirited two-day sports tournament organised by the Department of Maritime Studies in collaboration with the Chitkara University Sports Board. The event brought together students from the department for friendly yet competitive matches designed to foster sportsmanship, camaraderie, and physical well-being.
The tournament featured Cricket and Pickleball matches—sports that not only tested students’ strategic thinking and agility but also encouraged collaboration and team spirit. With enthusiastic participation and vibrant energy across both days, the event served as an ideal platform for cadets to showcase their athletic potential alongside their academic pursuits.
In cricket, Port House emerged as the winner after a thrilling final match. Cadet Shubham Kumar Singh was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding performance and decisive contributions to the team’s victory.
In the Pickleball competition, Cadet Daksh Sharma secured the winner’s title, with Cadet Priyanjal Sharma and Cadet Nishay Bhatt finishing as the runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. The matches were closely contested, demonstrating the high level of preparation and sportsmanship among the participants.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were felicitated for their achievements. Faculty members and student coordinators praised the enthusiastic involvement of all cadets and emphasised the importance of sports in holistic development.
This tournament served not only as a celebration of National Maritime Day but also as a reminder of the role physical education plays in building discipline, leadership, and teamwork among future maritime professionals.
