Chitkara Design School Strengthens Global Ties Through Expert Teaching Collaboration in Italy
In a significant stride towards global academic engagement, Chitkara Design School expanded its international footprint through a distinguished teaching initiative by Dr. Gopal Meena, Vice President – Strategy Initiatives, who recently delivered a series of expert sessions at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), Italy. The visit was facilitated under the prestigious Erasmus+ Faculty Mobility Grant, jointly coordinated by Chitkara University’s Office of International Affairs and IED, highlighting a robust commitment to global educational exchange.
Dr. Meena conducted an intensive week-long program tailored for design students at IED, focusing on the evolving design needs of Indian urban millennials and Gen Z. His sessions explored the intersection of cultural sensitivity and consumer behaviour in the context of Retail Design and UX/UI Customisation, offering nuanced perspectives on how global platforms can better align with the Indian market. Emphasising the importance of personalisation, trust, and regional storytelling, Dr. Meena’s discourse challenged conventional design strategies, urging a more contextual and inclusive approach to user experience across borders.
The sessions sparked vibrant classroom discussions, drawing attention to the critical need for design solutions that resonate with diverse consumer identities. Students at IED responded with enthusiasm and curiosity, appreciating the depth of cultural insight and strategic thinking brought to the table. These interactions not only enriched the academic experience for participants but also underscored the potential of Indo-European academic synergies in shaping future-ready designers.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Meena’s visit opened avenues for deeper academic and industry collaborations between Chitkara Design School and IED. Conversations during the visit hinted at potential joint projects, research initiatives, and student exchange programs that could further amplify the impact of design education across continents. The visit also provided an opportunity to share Chitkara’s innovative practices and its forward-looking approach to integrating global design pedagogy with regional relevance.
This successful engagement stands as a testament to Chitkara Design School’s vision of nurturing globally competent, culturally rooted designers and reinforces the university’s ongoing mission to build meaningful global partnerships that enhance the educational experience.
