Chitkara University Joins Global Policymakers and Researchers at AI Impact Summit

Chitkara University participated in the AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where policymakers, technology companies, researchers, entrepreneurs and university representatives from more than a hundred countries gathered to examine the governance, development and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The summit brought together stakeholders from across sectors to consider how AI systems are being deployed in public and private domains, and how accountability should be addressed when these systems influence decisions affecting people’s lives.
India’s hosting of the summit reflected the growing international focus on collaborative approaches to AI governance. Country pavilions from Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Russia were present alongside delegations from global research institutions, highlighting the shared recognition that the regulatory and ethical challenges of AI cannot be addressed by any single country or sector.
A key feature of the summit was the convergence of policy, industry and academia. Sessions examined trusted AI systems, safety standards and the practical deployment of AI across sectors including healthcare, finance, urban planning and public administration. Alongside these discussions, the India AI Impact Expo featured more than 300 pavilions displaying robotics systems, diagnostic technologies and predictive platforms, drawing over two lakh visitors.
Chitkara University attended the summit as an Academic Partner, with a delegation that included senior faculty members and students who participated in sessions and explored technology demonstrations on the expo floor.
“The pace at which artificial intelligence is reshaping economies and industries leaves little room for universities to remain on the sidelines of these conversations,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor of Chitkara University. “Students today need more than technical fluency. They need to understand the social responsibilities that come with building and deploying intelligent systems.”
The summit also highlighted the growing demand for professionals who understand how AI systems function and where their limitations lie. In response, Chitkara University has introduced specialised programs in Computer Science Engineering with concentrations in Artificial Intelligence and Future Technologies, Machine Learning and Data Science.
Recognising that AI literacy extends beyond engineering, the university has also introduced management pathways in Business Analytics and AI for Business, along with a Minor in Artificial Intelligence within its MBA programs. International exposure is incorporated through Global Pathways in Artificial Intelligence developed with partner universities in Australia and the United States.
Participation in forums such as the AI Impact Summit reflects the increasing intersection between higher education, technology and public policy as universities prepare graduates for an AI-driven economy.
