NSS Observes World Yoga Day at Chitkara University with Mindful Practice

On 21st June 2025, the National Service Scheme at Chitkara University, Punjab, marked World Yoga Day with a purposeful gathering that emphasised breath, body, and balance. Instead of grandeur, the observance embraced simplicity, offering participants an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with themselves through the discipline of yoga.
Held on campus, the session welcomed students, faculty, and young learners from Chitkara International School, with Lt. Col. (Dr.) Rakesh Sharma, Registrar, joining as a special guest. The hour unfolded in quiet focus as mats lined the venue. Under the guidance of instructors, participants moved through postures with calm attention, discovering presence in each transition. The practice was not about perfection but about intention, creating a space of collective mindfulness.
The sincerity of participation stood out, as individuals of all ages engaged wholeheartedly in the session. Teachers who had previously attended yoga workshops were also honoured with certificates and gifts, recognising their contribution in spreading the values of health and balance within the campus community. Their acknowledgment reinforced the role of educators as torchbearers of well-being.
The celebration carried a larger message, that education is incomplete without well-being, and well-being is incomplete without self-awareness. For Chitkara University, Yoga Day became more than an event; it was a reminder that mindfulness and balance are vital for how we engage with the world. Long after the mats were rolled up, the essence of stillness and rootedness remained.
