Chitkara University student awarded ‘Khel Samman’ by Bangla CM

With every sunrise we redefine history, and what a great way to begin the New Year with Honours & Awards pouring into Chitkara University.

We are proud to share that Ronit Bhanja, BCA student, Department of Computer Applications, has been honoured with ‘Khel Samman Award’ (Table Tennis), by Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. Ronit dedicated the award to his Parents, Coach and Chitkara University.

Several well-known sportspersons were present at the occasion. The awards were given by the State Youth Services and Sports Department. The awards, part of the Khelashree Scheme, and which include a monetary part, aim at rewarding eminent sportspersons of Bangla. The Khelashree Scheme started in 2012, also aims at improving the sporting infrastructure of the State, including the building of stadiums and gyms, buying of equipment, construction of equipment storage spaces, etc. Grants for the above purposes were also handed out at the awards ceremony.
