Dr. Imali Dias received her PhD in Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2016. She is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Technology and teaches Embedded Systems Development. She is the Academic Director of Makerspace and is also the Academic Coordinator for the Deakin-Chitkara partnership program. Her current research interests include Internet of Things, energy-efficient wearable technologies, optical wireless convergence, low-latency communication, and engineering education.
Dr. Lashi Bandara is a mathematician working on global analysis – an area that focuses on using techniques from mathematical analysis and operator theory to understand and solve geometric problems. He completed his PhD in mathematics at the Australian National University in 2013 during which time he was also an Australian-American Fulbright Scholar at Stanford and the University of Missouri. His undergraduate comprised of a Bachelor of Science as well as a Bachelor of Computer Science at Monash University.
Dr. Shantanu Pal is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Shantanu has extensive research experience and knowledge in Internet of Things, access control security, trust management, blockchain technology, mobile and cloud computing, distributed embedded networks, smart sensors applications, etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
Dr. Son Tran serves as a Senior Lecturer in Data Science at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, Australia. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from City, University of London, United Kingdom. Dr. Tran’s research interests are dedicated to building reliable, scalable, and robust artificial intelligence systems aimed at advancing the well-being of humanity. His research has been applied to diverse domains, including agriculture, healthcare, and environment.
Dr. Maksym Slavnenko is an Associate Lecturer in Computer Science at Deakin. With over 12 years of experience in commercial application development, Maksym excels in teaching all stages of the software development process. His research interests are Authentication and Authorization, Privacy, Security, and System Design. His current research focus is on improvements in the NationalID Federations’ privacy and interoperability. Before joining Trent University, he worked as a Financial Advisor and Branch Manager at Canada’s largest financial institution. Her expertise lies in undergraduate diploma and post-grad certificate programs such as HRM, HR Planning, Training and Development, Compensation and Benefits, and Recruitment and Selection.
Alaa Alslaity is an Assistant Professor at Trent University, Canada, and an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa, Canada. His Ph.D. thesis was nominated for the Best Thesis Award 2021. Dr. Alslaity has published several peer-reviewed articles, two of which have received the Best Paper Award, in addition to two book chapters. His research interests include persuasive technology.
