Facilitated a Meeting with the Rajindra Mahendra Gymkhana Club, Patiala

DST-funded Chitkara University Technology Enabling Center (CU-TEC) facilitated a meeting of the Hospitality department of our university with the Rajindra Mahendra Gymkhana Club (150 years old royal club having 3000 elite members of Patiala city). The objective of the meeting was to discuss a proposal for training the staff of the club on F&B services. CU-TEC works very closely with the Patiala Industry Association (PIA). The president of PIA – Mr. H.S. Lamba approached us with this requirement of upgrading the F&B services of their club.

Program Advisory Group (PAG) Meeting of the DST funded Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre was organized on
November 29, 2023

The PAG meeting of the DST funded Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre (CU-TEC) was held in an online mode on November 29. The objective of the meeting was to review the progress of work done by CU-TEC in the FY 22-23 and FY 23-24 (till date). The meeting was attended by 15 PAG members comprising of two representatives from the DST, EAG member nominated by the DST, representatives from two other TECs, leaders from the regional industries and industry associations and senior academicians from the regional institutions and host institution. Invitation by the University of Ladakh
(September 26, 2023)

Dr. Archana Mantri – Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University was invited as DST nominee to the 1st PAG meeting of the University of Ladakh - Technology Enabling Centre (DST funded) that was held on Sep 26, 2023. The two Technology Enabling Centres (TECs) - Chitkara University and the University of Ladakh agreed to work together on technologies useful for the Ladakh region.

She was also invited as one of the keynote speakers to the 'National Workshop cum Conference on Bio-diversity and Conservation in Himalayan Region' that was organized by the University of Ladakh during September 25-26, 2023. He delivered a talk on "Technology in Livestock and Agriculture: A Boon to Sustainability and Biodiversity".

Awareness Drive on Pre-Incubation Funding Opportunities Available at Chitkara University

The pre-incubation center of Chitkara University supports student projects by giving them prototype funding for developing good quality prototypes. This center is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and it is entitled NewGen IEDC. Additionally, at Chitkara University we promote industry-academia collaborations for working on real world industrial problems under our Technology Enabling Centre (TEC)initiative, which is also sponsored by the DST. We conduct annual hackathon entitled NOVATE+ to invite innovative project ideas (preferably joint industry-academia projects), which can be supported with prototype funding.

Chitkara University organized the biggest industry-academia conclave in the region to promote collaborations for the joint development of technologies

Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre (CU-TEC) set up and sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India organized the biggest industry-academia conclave of the region on March 4, 2023. The conclave was held at Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab and it was organized in collaboration with the Patiala Chamber of Industries. In this event, a large number of regional industries as well as academic institutions came together with just one objective in mind, i.e. to jointly develop technologies which can be commercialized.

Invited Talk on Support Available at Chitkara University for Working on Innovative Projects
(December 17, 2022)

On December 17, 2022, Mr. Sagar Juneja - Assistant Dean, CURIN and Coordinator - NewGen IEDC and TEC (DST funded centers) did an interactive session with the faculty members of Applied Sciences Department of Chitkara University, in which he discussed about the support available at Chitkara University for working on innovative projects. He discussed the possibilities of working on industry-academia joint projects under the Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) and the enabling ecosystem that TEC has created at Chitkara University. Additionally, he discussed about NewGen IEDC and requested the faculty members to encourage students to apply prototyping funding from NewGen IEDC and work on innovative projects. The session was attended by over 15 faculty members and 5 students.

CURIN participated in the CRIKC-CII Exhibition cum Industry Academia Meet
(November, 2022)

A team from CURIN participated in the CRIKC-CII Exhibition cum Industry Academia Meet held at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjab on November 12 and demonstrated two innovative and technology-enhanced projects titled a) Thermal Spray Technology and b) Counterfeit Detector. More than 100 academic institutions and industries participated in this event. The faculty members from CURIN who participated were Dr. P. K. Khosla (Pro-VC), Dr. Anoop Kumar Singh (Professor), Dr. Rakesh Goyal (Associate Professor), Dr. K. R. Ramkumar (Associate Professor), and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur (Assistant Professor).

CU-TEC Meeting with Executive Members of Sangrur District Industrial Chamber (SDIC)

Chitkara University-TEC conducted an event at SDIC Bhawan, Focal Point, Sangrur with the Executive Members Committee of Sangrur District Industrial Chamber (SDIC).

In this meeting, Mr. Sagar Juneja (Asst. Dean, CURIN and Coordinator TEC) gave them insights about GoI funded TEC project and how it is mutually beneficial to do industry-academia joint projects. Additionally, there were sessions on New Policies & Plans for MSMEs sectors by MSME Development Institute, Ludhiana.

Around 35 Industrialists from Sangrur Cluster (Sangrur, Sunam, Dhuri, Malerkotla, Bhawanigarh) including Mr. Gora Lal (Chairman), Mr. Aman Zakhami (President), Mr. Vishal Gupta (Gen. JOINT EVENT OF CHITKARA UNIVERSITY-TEC & PATIALA CHAMBER OF INDUSTRIES

Under DST Sponsored TEC Project, Chitkara University-Technology Enabling Centre & Patiala Chamber of Industries jointly organized a late evening event at Patiala Chamber of Industries Hall, C-109, Industrial Area, Focal Point, Patiala on 7th Oct 2022.

At this event, Mr. Sagar Juneja (Assistant Dean, CURIN & Coordinator, CU-TEC) was invited as the Chief Guest by Mr. Jatinder Singh Sandhu (President, Patiala Chamber of Industries) wherein he gave them insights about GoI funded TEC project and how it is mutually beneficial to do industry-academia joint projects (the initiative which is also advocated by GoI). Additionally, there were sessions on MSME Development Act 2006 and banking schemes for MSMEs sectors.

Eac-Tec Meeting Hosted By Chitkara University Tec
(25th & 26th August, 2022)

Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre hosted EAC (Expert Advisory Committee) TEC meeting on August 25-26, 2022. The meeting was sponsored by DST and its objective was to do the final evaluation of 25 shortlisted project proposals from 25 different institutions all for the country that were received under the 2nd DST Call for TEC proposals The expert team was headed by Prof. (Dr.) Nalinaksh Vyas (IIT Kanpur), Prof. (Dr.) Krishnan Balasubramanian (IIT Madras), Dr. Sanjay Kumar (CSIR-NML), Prof. (Dr.) B Gurumoorthy (IISc Bengaluru), Prof. (Dr.) K. Sankaran (Anna University, Chennai), Prof. (Dr.) Utpal Bora (IIT Guwahati), Dr. Sudha Mysore (Agrinnovate India Limited) and Dr. Devi Prasad Bhukya (NITI Aayog). Dr. Madhu Chitkara– Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University and Dr. Archana Mantri – Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab felicitated the EAC experts. During this visit the EAC experts also visited Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre (CU-TEC) and witnessed the innovations and collaborations being supported by CU-TEC.

Industry Visit By Me Experts (Curin) For Collaboration
(25th August, 2022)

On August 25th, 2022, a team of three mechanical engineering experts (Dr. Anoop Kumar Singh, Dr. Prateek Shrivastva, Dr. Deepam Goyal) from Chitkara University visited the Chouhan Engineering Company, Rajpura (Manufacturers & Suppliers of Confectionery Machines) for the second round of discussion for possible collaboration for joint projects. During this visit they saw demos of some of machines and tried to understand the challenges being faced by the industry.

Biggest Confluence of Academia and Industry for Working on Joint Projects – Novate+ 22

NOVATE+ 2022 was jointly organized by Chitkara University NewGen IEDC, and Chitkara University TEC (both these entities have been set up by DST, Govt. of India in Chitkara University). The 4th edition of Novate+ was based on the theme Biggest Confluence of Academia and Industry for Working on Joint Projects. The objective of the event was to encourage students and faculty members to reach out to the industry to understand the challenges faced by them and to bring joint proposals. More than 50 entries were received to win the total funding of INR 50 lakhs. The best 29 entries were invited for the jury round on June 6, 2022.

Dr Archana Mantri – Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University shared her expert views and discussed the journey of Novate+ with the participants. She also encouraged students to be very précised and focused, on their idea so that they can be converted into a prototype and become successful startups. The guests from Industry and Academia shared their experiences and views on converting prototyping into a startup.

Mr Shivansh Sethi, CEO & Founder- Aiotize Pvt. Ltd. and Dr Jagreet Kaur, Director - Xenonstack Pvt. Ltd. were the jury members invited from the industry whereas Dr Sachin Ahuja, Director- Research; Mr Sanjay Bhatnagar, Visiting Faculty; Dr Varsha Singh, Assistant Professor and Dr Neha Tuli, Assistant Professor-CURIN along with the Mr Deepak Nair, Research & Design, Consultant were invited as jury members to analyze each project critically from Chitkara University.

Mr Sagar Juneja – Asst. Dean, Mr Chanpreet Singh- Project Manager, and Mr Lovit Kumar, Office Executive CURIN were the core team to organize the event. The winners of the Novate+ 2022 will be announced soon.

CU-TEC exhibits its innovations at MachAuto-Expo 2022

Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre was invited to participate in the 11th edition of the annual exhibition ceremony MACHAUTO EXPO 2022 on March 11, 2022, at Ludhiana Exhibition Centre, Ludhiana, Punjab. It was organized to provide a platform for the MSMEs units across the country to judge the new technologies & innovations at the various technology research centres of educational institutes and industries. A dedicated space was provided to display the projects completed under the fabrication centre of Chitkara University. The event was based on Engineering Machinery, Machine Tools, Auto Parts, Hand Tools, CNC Machines and SPMs, Automation Technology, etc. Based on this, the four major products- 80 wash, Grain Paddy Drying Machine, Solar Powered Multipurpose Canopy, and UC-V Robot were selected and exhibited in the event. Dr. Sachin Ahuja (Professor and Director, Research); Dr Varun Chhabra (Associate Professor, CURIN), Dr K.Z. Molla (Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering); Mr. Sagar Juneja (Assistant Dean, CURIN and Coordinator CU-TEC); Mr Chanpreet Singh (Project Manager, CURIN) participated in the event. The objective of attending the exhibition was to understand the requirement of the industry and to collaborate with MSMEs of the region.

Bosch Industry-Academia Collaboration Centre Set-up at Chitkara University

Industry connect has always been a top priority for Chitkara University. We have numerous industry connects with the leadings companies of the world for a large number of diverse activities including trainings, knowledge sharing, resource sharing, research collaboration, joint projects etc. In the month of December 2020, we joined hands with Bosch Limited for setting-up of Industry-Academia Collaboration Centre at Chitkara University. The Centre is located on the Second Floor of Babbage Block.

We have GoI sponsored Technology Enabling Centre at the university, where our prime objective is to develop an ecosystem in which universities' research/technologies can be used by the MSMEs in addressing various challenges. Bosch has MSMEs Capacity Building as one of their verticals under their industry-academia collaboration program. This common link enabled Bosch and Chitkara University to join hands for the setting up of Industry-Academia Collaboration Centre at the university.

Technology Enabling Centre at Chitkara University is headed by Dr. Archana Mantri – Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University and is coordinated by Mr. Sagar Juneja – Assistant Dean, CURIN along with Dr. Gurjinder Singh and Dr. Prateek Srivastav – Assistant Professors, CURIN. Sagar Juneja under the guidance of Dr. Archana Mantri remained instrumental is reaching out to Bosch Limited, India for the setting-up of this Centre at the university. Bosch has made an investment of INR 10 Lacs for the Centre.
