Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre (CU-TEC), a DST-funded centre under the aegis of the Centre for Research Impact and Outcome (CRIO), Chitkara University, Punjab, is organizing a hands-on workshop titled “From Concept to Creation: A Hands-on Rapid Prototyping Workshop” on 29 August 2026, from 10:00 AM onwards at Chitkara University, Punjab.
The workshop is designed for students, research scholars, academicians, start-ups, and industry professionals who are interested in learning 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques. The session will provide participants with practical exposure to the complete journey of a prototype, from developing a digital design to producing a finished physical model.
The workshop will cover important aspects of design for 3D printing, including essential design rules, slicing, print preparation, material selection, print settings, troubleshooting, and design optimisation. Through hands-on activities, participants will gain an understanding of how 3D printing can be used to transform ideas into tangible prototypes and accelerate experimentation and product development.
A key highlight of the workshop will be the opportunity for participants to develop their own prototype during the session and take it home, allowing them to experience the complete rapid prototyping process.
The workshop aims to strengthen practical skills and encourage participants to explore additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping as tools for innovation, design development, research, and problem-solving.

DST-funded Chitkara University Technology Enabling Centre (CU-TEC), CRIO, successfully organized a workshop titled “From Concept to Creation: A Hands-on Rapid Prototyping Workshop” on 29 August 2026 at Chitkara University, Punjab. The full-day workshop brought together participants from different backgrounds and institutions for an interactive learning experience focused on understanding the complete workflow of 3D printing and rapid prototyping from digital design to a physical prototype.
It was delivered by – Dr. Chanpreet Singh – Sr. Project Manager, CRIO, Chitkara University, who is an expert in rapid prototyping.
The workshop provided participants with practical exposure to design for 3D printing, design rules, slicing and print preparation, materials and print settings, prototyping, and design optimisation. Participants also had a hands-on session with a 3D printer, where they learned the 3D printing process and observed how a virtual digital design is transformed into a physical object.
As part of the hands-on activity, participants developed and prepared their own models for printing and were able to take their 3D-printed parts home, giving them a complete hands-on experience of taking an idea from concept to creation.
