Organized at the Fortis and Ivy hospitals in Punjab, the workshops aimed to involve health professionals in the comparative discussion on Universal Health Coverage and healthcare policies. The discussion developed during the workshops has been intertwined with the scientific interventions introducing the Erasmus+ programme, European healthcare policies, and the roadmap toward Universal Health Coverage in India. The Indian health professionals managing the Ivy and Fortis hospitals have demonstrated their motivated interest in playing a proactive role in the ongoing restructuring of the Indian healthcare sectors and the EU-India relations. The activities have been instrumental in promoting the professional module implemented in the framework of the project and creating multipliers in Indian society.
Organized in cooperation with the Kalinga School of Public Health, the international seminar has been an opportunity to debate with the Indian scientific community regarding EU-India relations in the health field and the path that Indian policymakers should follow to improve the universality of the national healthcare system. The seminar aimed to discover the strategies deployed by the EU member states to sustain equitable healthcare systems and how the European Union could support the Indian government in operating the required reforms to ensure adequate healthcare protections for citizens. The event has been an excellent opportunity to promote the Erasmus+ programme and the Jean Monnet action in India, providing new perspectives and debating new ideas to enrich the EU-India people-to-people relations.
Organized in cooperation with the Erasmus+ PREVENT IT project, the international conference on risk management and prevention of antibiotic resistance engaged more than 400 delegates from over 40 Indian and European institutions. The final goal was to debate the impact of the One Health approach in eradicating casualties associated with drug-resistant pathogens. Despite the scarce societal awareness – as reported by a recent article published in the Lancet – superbugs and drug-resistance diseases currently represent the second cause of death worldwide. Present at this global conference was Italian ambassador HE Ugo Astuto, Benoît Sauveroche – First Counsellor, Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan – and Marcel Floor, counsellor for Health Welfare and Sport, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India.
